Media is a word that has several interpretations. For example, 'the media' is news-papers, the radio, television and Internet. In a word, the fourth branch of power.
But I think we're talking about educating without attending of classic schools or universities and stadying online.
Home schooling is the first thing I can imagine. It may be really comfortable, if you live in a very remote place or in the countryside. I know that online education is so developed in abroad nowadays. It also gives much more comfort to the children who have outstanding abilities. They don't have to wait for other classmates and can make their personal curriculum.
But, as a common guy, I'm against these systems' development so widly, because they make us think only by our brains, they're able to increase our intelligence. To my mind, online education is lacking in simple conversations face to face.

It's very difficult to add something after the previous author, but i'll try to do it.
So, firstly i want to say that what i'm doing right now is a media-educatoin,too because i'm learning to express my opinion to the concret problem in the english language. It's great, because it's my first experiance in it.
Secondly, media-educatoin is also reading articles on the wikipedia.com or on similar web-sites. We read and learn some informatoin and it may be useful for our studing at school/in the university.
Thirdly, it's of course a big quality of abilities for ill and invalid people, especially when they can't go out. They can get necessary knowledge and even find a job!
But i also like communicating with people and for me,the media-education will never replace the real education.

Oh, yes! It's really difficult to add something interesting after the previous answers... Hm, as I see it, media education is the way to learn by using some kind of media (newspapers, web-sites, Internet, online education and so on). Also it's very convenient, because you can learn something new just staying home.

Media education is very popular nowadays. It is often presented to our president to show how developed we are. But we are not. Many schools hasn't necessary equipment. Media should help, but it is not, because people (teachers and pupils) aren't ready for that. Sometimes it is so clumsy so it's just distract attention but is not help. It helps to those, who can't visit lessons because of their health.
What about me, I used to use textbooks, notes and pens for my education and do not want anymore.

Media is very important. I love it, really! It's amazing thing. It allows me to exchange minds with my classmates, friends sitting on the sofa and drinking coffee. It's fantastic, is not it?
More I use it, more joy I get from it!

As for me media education is a very important part of life. Media is everything that surround us, diffefent magazines, internet, news, TV..Media nowdays contains all aspects of modern life! Media Education exists to help people to tell their own stories in powerful and engaging ways. It is defined as the study and analysis of mass media which is really useful for young people and even for adults.

Media education are public opinion. Each person should have a opinion. Opinions of different people can be very similar, but aren't identical. Media education bring presently harm much, it is a lot of lies. It is important to remember always that it is the tool of formation of public opinion, and also to represent, who and in what purposes uses this tool.

Media education is a learned skill whereby one knows how to dissect the media he or she is receiving or creating. Its techniques include a pedagogical approach to question asking where students are taught to objectively analyze information they are receiving from the mass media.
Using these techniques, the student learns to search for biases, censorship, and propaganda in broadcasting and how to think independently while processing these influences. Mass media will always have its right and left ends of the spectrum presented. A well educated person has the responsibility to use his or her knowledge to look at the mass media out there and come to his or her own conclusions. Media education is a means to be able to do just that.
